Our Mission

The National Museum of Encaustic Art exists to celebrate and preserve the legacy of encaustic art while supporting its evolution into the future. Through exhibitions, education, and archival projects, we honor the luminous, layered nature of the medium—and the artists who shape it. As a national platform, our mission is to bring greater visibility, legitimacy, and appreciation to encaustic art across time, place, and voice.Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

About the Museum

Founded in 2025 by artist Freddie Bainbridge, the National Museum of Encaustic Art (NEMoA) is a newly launched institution dedicated to one of the world’s oldest and most captivating art forms. What began with Bainbridge’s personal body of work has become the foundation for a growing collection, an expanding archive, and a digital gathering place for encaustic artists nationwide.

With the launch of our inaugural Founder’s Collection, NEMoA is actively building a living archive through rotating exhibits, artist submissions, and future collaborations with galleries, institutions, and historians. One of our core goals is to represent every state in the U.S. through encaustic work—creating a truly national tapestry of wax, memory, and meaning. As the first museum solely devoted to encaustic art, we aim to hold space for this timeless medium and the stories it preserves.
